Abraham and Isaac

Today we take a look at one of the most controversial stories in the Bible. Based on this story, some have concluded that God is some sort of a moral monster, a bi-polar being who loves people one day and destroys them the next. Other see this as one of the most amazing and powerful stories ever told. What do you think? Have you even heard it? If you're not sure, watch the service to hear the story.

Abram and Sarai

Today we dig into a story that forms the foundation of one of the most critical teachings of Christianity. Many believers struggle with the fear that they're not good enough, that God couldn't possibly love them. Today we look at a couple episodes in the life of a man the Bible calls "A friend of God," to see what we can learn from what he did right - and what he did wrong.

The Way of Cain:

The epic story between Cain and Abel was a conflict between Cain and God. Like Cain, we will eventually face an encounter with God in which God will not respond as we expected. Moreover, Cain’s five responses to God lead to inner darkness and spiritual death. Join us so we may learn from Cain’s experience: 1. the temptation to become angry at God, 2. the consequences of giving ourselves over to anger, and 3. the likely outcome of departing “from the presence of the LORD.”

The Parting of the Red Sea

This is an epic story, a miracle story, that many people have heard - or even experienced... at a Southern California theme park. We all want to see miracles in our lives, but we should be careful what we pray for. Moses, and the people of Israel learned that miracles can be really hard work! Watch the video for the rest of the story.

Gideon and Midian

"Rocky Raccoon checked into his room, only to find Gideon's Bible."

So who is Gideon? And why is his Bible in a Beatles song? Gideon, like Samson, was a Judge in Israel, but not what we think of as a judge in our world. The Judges of ancient Israel were military leaders, raised up to free Israel from oppression. But Gideon, by his own words, was not a leader - he was the weakest man in a weak family.

But then, God...

Samson and Delilah

The strong man brought down by a pretty face! That's the story as many people know it, but there is a lot more to it. The pretty girl certainly played a part, but the real issue was Samson's casual attitude towards his life's purpose and meaning - God had plans for him, but he got caught up in his own plans, and he paid the price. Just as we often do. Watch the service, and stay inside your "hedge of protection!"
